Barnet Trading Estate, London
Barnet Trading Estate was a run down and partially derelict brown field site located a short distance from Barnet High Street at one end of the site and adjacent to the “green-belt” at the other.
At Sutton Griffin Architects, Ian Blake, proposed a terraced residential scheme that utilized the sloping topography to provide integrated under-croft car parking and a north-south orientation – to provide passive solar gain to the new apartments.
The scheme is designed to give priority to the pedestrian and ensure that all apartments benefit from private outside space and also have a view into landscaped public outside areas.
