Community Arts Pavilion, Newbury

Ian Blake, whilst at Sutton Griffin Architects envisaged the contemporary pavilion as the centre piece to a proposed regeneration of Newbury Wharfside.  The pavilion was intended to replace much of the outdated Victoria Park facilities as well as providing an arts orientated community building to attract visitors into the wharf area.

The design is intended to be incredibly sustainable, using passive heating and cooling technologies together with planted sedum roof and walls. A timber louvred front facade cloaks a glazed elevation – creating not only a brise-soleil for the public areas but also a visual dynamic that would change the lighting inside the building throughout the day and provide a point of interest within the park at night.
