Shopping Centre – Parkway Newbury

West Berkshire Council selected Shearer Property Group in partnership with Standard Life Investments as its preferred Development Partner for a major £120 million mixed-use redevelopment on Park Way in Newbury.

Ian Blake led part of the Sutton Griffin Architects’ team, alongside BDP, to prepare the scheme that provides a new urban quarter in the town centre, with a mix of uses and new open streets and squares.

The development includes 270,000 sq ft of retail space, including a new Debenhams department store, large fashion stores and a mix of medium and smaller retail units and restaurants. Above the shops are located 180 apartments with extensively landscaped amenity space and below is car parking for over 600 cars.

The scheme won the British Council of Shopping Centres (BCSC now REVO) Gold Award as well as being highly commended by the CABE’s design review panel.
