Gresley Road Triangle, Basingstoke Hampshire

With Sutton Griffin Architects, Ian Blake designed a retail led mixed-use competition scheme to regenerate the Gresley Road Triangle site, on the edge of Basingstoke town centre. The scheme would have been anchored by a new Waitrose supermarket located at a first floor podium level – above a concealed car park, together with a 120 bedroom hotel, 4,500 sqm of non-food retail and 360 apartments – all located around an “urban village green” and set in new indigenous urban landscaping.

The scheme is orientated towards the south in order to benefit not only from passive solar gain for residential properties but also to maximise the excellent views that are available over Basingview to the south of the site.
