King’s College School – Teaching Wing and Entrance Atrium

Competition entry for design of a new entrance space for King’s College School in Wimbledon.

Our design approach proposed that we keep the existing Grand Hall as a formal entrance and create a new pedestrian entranceway nearby; the simple informality of this new glazed entrance and subtle signage would emphasise this new pedestrian entrance way, whilst the materials harmonise with the surrounding buildings.

We perpetuated the use of formal geometry and symmetry in the hard landscaping, with a circular feature which tied the proposed new entrance and the existing Grand Hall entrance together.
