Premier Inn Hotel, Newbury Berkshire
Located on an unused car park in Newbury’s town centre, this new 100 bed hotel, with restaurant, fills in the gap in the urban street scene left vacant between a Travelodge hotel and a former 1920’s cinema.
Ian Blake whilst at Sutton Griffin Architects designed the 5 storey hotel to form part of the distinctive gateway to Newbury’s modern retail centre, Parkway. The use of crisp rain-screen cladding on the hotel’s facade gives the building a recognisable contrast to the pale rendered facades of its immediate neighbours, whilst the glazed ground floor ensures an active frontage to this key town centre location.
