The new swimming facilities replace the original school pool and building, which was in desperate need of updating to be able to fit comfortably alongside their new sports building. Influence was drawn from the newly completed Jubilee Hall in terms of material palette, colour schemes, and overall form. The introduction of another relatively contemporary design helps to drastically modernise the overall appearance of the school, while still strongly relating to the existing historic masonry buildings around the site. The modernised facilities comprise of a new regulation pool, entrance lobby, spectator seating, ancillary space and parking facilities.

Through the addition of new technological systems and consideration of environmental principles, running costs for the new facility have been significantly reduced compared to the original building. This also helps to reduce the environmental impact of the design, and create internal spaces with greatly improved comfort.
